Nestled between the tranquil Lake Phewa and the majestic Annapurna Range, Pokhara, situated 200km west of Kathmandu, is Nepal’s cherished holiday destination and its second-largest city. The Sarangkot trek, a three-day journey, offers an ideal rural escape showcasing the region’s warm hospitality and scenic trails while staying below the 2,000m mark to prevent altitude sickness. This trek starts with a short drive from Pokhara, leading through lush forests and farmlands to Dhampus, a Gurung village at the Annapurna Conservation Area’s gateway, featuring spectacular views of the sacred Machhapuchhare peak.
Heading south to Naudanda, the view expands to include the verdant Pokhara Valley framed by the Himalayan peaks of Dhaulagiri and Manaslu. The path winds through vibrant villages to Sarangkot, where breathtaking vistas of Lake Phewa and the Himalayan skyline, including three peaks over 8,000m, unfolds. The trek concludes with a scenic descent through the forest to Phewa Lake, followed by a drive back to your hotel, capped by a stunning sunrise over the mountains.
