Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and welcome at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu (1300m/4260ft).

Welcome to Nepal!
Upon your arrival at the airport, our friendly team will be there to greet you with a warm smile. Look out for a staff member holding a nameplate with your name at the terminal gate for easy identification. From there, you’ll be comfortably escorted to your hotel.

This marks the beginning of your unforgettable Nepal journey. Once you’ve settled in, feel free to unpack, relax, or explore the vibrant surroundings of your hotel at your own pace.

In the evening, join us for a delightful welcome dinner at a traditional local restaurant. It’s the perfect opportunity to meet your fellow travelers and our team, share stories, and get a taste of Nepalese hospitality.

After dinner, you’re invited to experience the lively energy of Thamel — Kathmandu’s buzzing hub of shops, cafes, and nightlife. Soak in the atmosphere before returning to your hotel for a restful night’s sleep, ready to begin your adventure.

Setting off early from Kathmandu, we embark on our journey to Pokhara via a tourist bus. As Nepal’s second-largest city, Pokhara is often referred to as the adventure capital, serving as a crucial gateway to the treks in the Annapurna region. The journey to Pokhara is as scenic as it is thrilling, with views of cascading waterfalls, verdant hills, meandering rivers, and picturesque terraces along the way.

Upon our late afternoon arrival in Pokhara, you’ll have some free time to explore this enchanting city. You can soak up the serene ambiance of Phewa Lake, marvel at the majestic sight of Fishtail Mountain, and wander through the lively Lakeside area, which is brimming with shops, cafes, and vibrant marketplaces. It’s the perfect prelude to our trekking adventure that begins tomorrow.

After enjoying breakfast in Pokhara, we embark on our trek with a scenic 1.5-hour drive to Nayapul. The journey presents us with captivating views of lush green hills and distant mountains, setting the tone for our adventure. Arriving at Nayapul, positioned at 1,100 meters above sea level, marks the starting point of our trek towards Ghandruk.

Winding through a mix of farmland, village paths, forests, and terraced rice fields, the journey to Ghandruk is an immersive experience, crossing several traditional villages like Birethanti, Syauli Bazar, Chimrung, and others. It typically takes about 4 to 5 hours to trek from Nayapul to Ghandruk, during which we’re treated to stunning views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and the iconic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain).

Ghandruk, renowned for its rich Gurung culture and lifestyle, offers a unique glimpse into the local way of life amidst the backdrop of magnificent snow-capped peaks. The trek’s gentle terrain ensures a comfortable yet rewarding experience, setting the stage for the rest of our journey.

Following a hearty breakfast in Ghandruk, our journey continues as we trek towards Sinuwa. Initially, the path leads us to a gentle ascent towards Chhomrong Danda, offering gradual elevation gains. Upon reaching Chhomrong Danda, we undertake a descent towards the Komrong Khola, followed by a subsequent climb that brings us to the large settlement of Chhomrong village.

From Chhomrong, our route takes us down to a river, followed by an ascent that leads us to our day’s endpoint, Sinuwa. Favorable weather conditions will reward us with mesmerizing views of the snow-capped peaks from Sinuwa, making for a memorable trekking day.

Starting the day with breakfast, we embark on our trek from Sinuwa to Deurali, navigating an uphill path surrounded by verdant forests. Our route takes us through the charming settlement of Bamboo, aptly named for its dense bamboo groves. Trekking through these bamboo forests offers a unique and serene experience.

We’ll encounter additional settlements such as Dovan and Himalaya en route, with the trail meandering through richly forested areas. Spring treks are especially vibrant, as the forests come alive with the colorful blooms of rhododendrons.

After reaching Himalayas, our ascent continues through drier woodland, accompanied by a river that guides us towards Deurali. A highlight of this segment is a beautiful waterfall created by the river, providing a perfect spot for a brief pause to savor the tranquil surroundings before proceeding to Deurali.

The trek advances, weaving through verdant farmlands before taking a dramatic turn to cross the Budhi Gandaki River on a swaying suspension bridge. The ascent to Rana offers a prelude to the deeper, secluded realms of the Budhi Gandaki valley. Traversing ancient forests dotted with mani stones, the path to Ghap is both a physical journey and a spiritual passage. Venturing through Prok village, trekkers are treated to the majestic sight of Singri Himal, enhancing the trek’s visual feast. Alongside the river, marked by numerous crossings, the trail is lined with dense forests and ancient stupas. This segment of the journey peaks with a challenging yet rewarding climb to Namrung, promising an unparalleled sense of achievement and anticipation for the adventures that lie ahead.

Today is a significant day as we trek to the renowned Annapurna Base Camp. Starting with breakfast in Deurali, we embark on an uphill trek, traversing a river bed and crossing a bridge to reach Bagar. As we progress, we’ll trek up to the base camp of Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), pausing for lunch at MBC to enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks.

Continuing into the Annapurna Sanctuary, we’ll trek a few more hours to arrive at our ultimate destination, Annapurna Base Camp. Here, we’ll witness a magical sunset, surrounded by the majestic 360-degree panorama of the Annapurna range.

Our night will be spent at a tea house near the base camp, offering a well-deserved rest after a fulfilling day of trekking.

Departing from Annapurna Base Camp, we embark on a steep descent along rocky trails, passing Machhapuchhre Base Camp. As we journey past Bagar and cross a bridge, we’ll follow a riverbed leading to Deurali. Here, we’re greeted by the sight of a picturesque waterfall, continuing through lush rhododendron forests towards Himalaya. Our trek then takes us through Dovan and into the heart of dense bamboo forests, eventually bringing us to Sinuwa, where we’ll rest for the night.

After enjoying breakfast at Sinuwa, we embark on our journey to Jhinu Danda. The descent through lush woods and farmlands makes for a comfortable and serene trek. We’ll traverse familiar trails and villages, arriving at Jhinu Danda, celebrated for its soothing natural hot springs. An evening dip offers a perfect remedy for our weary muscles, marking a delightful conclusion to our trek. Our stay at a Jhinu Danda teahouse promises relaxation and joy, epitomizing the pleasures of the Annapurna Base Camp trek. The final leg involves a peaceful three-hour walk to Nayapul, followed by a local jeep ride to Pokhara, wrapping up our remarkable journey

Useful Info

Best Season for Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek

The best times to trek the Manaslu Circuit are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During spring, the trail offers clear mountain views, pleasant temperatures, and blooming rhododendrons in multiple colors. Autumn brings stable weather, clear skies, and exceptional views of Mt. Manaslu and surrounding peaks.
Trekking in winter and monsoon seasons is not advised due to heavy snowfall, closed lodges at higher altitudes, and high landslide risks during the rains.

Food on the Trek

Although food choices are limited compared to city areas, trekkers can expect healthy, hygienic meals throughout the journey. A typical trek includes 12 breakfasts, 12 lunches, and 11 dinners.
Breakfast options include Tibetan bread, eggs, cereals, pancakes, toast, fruits, and hot drinks.
Lunch and dinner commonly feature dal bhat, vegetable curries, noodles, thukpa, pasta, soups, and snacks. It’s best to eat fresh vegetables, drink plenty of water, and avoid mixing dairy, meat, alcohol, and coffee.

Accommodation

In Kathmandu, you’ll find a wide range of hotels, but along the trek, accommodation is mostly at basic tea houses. Rooms are twin-sharing, often with shared toilets outside the room. Tea houses have a communal dining area with a fireplace. In higher altitudes, it’s essential to carry a warm sleeping bag.

Trek Difficulty

The Manaslu Circuit is a challenging trek, especially when crossing the 5106m-high Larkya La Pass. The trail is less developed compared to Annapurna or Everest, demanding good physical condition and prior hiking experience.
