Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and welcome at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu (1300m/4260ft).

Welcome to Nepal!
Upon your arrival at the airport, our friendly team will be there to greet you with a warm smile. Look out for a staff member holding a nameplate with your name at the terminal gate for easy identification. From there, you’ll be comfortably escorted to your hotel.

This marks the beginning of your unforgettable Nepal journey. Once you’ve settled in, feel free to unpack, relax, or explore the vibrant surroundings of your hotel at your own pace.

In the evening, join us for a delightful welcome dinner at a traditional local restaurant. It’s the perfect opportunity to meet your fellow travelers and our team, share stories, and get a taste of Nepalese hospitality.

After dinner, you’re invited to experience the lively energy of Thamel — Kathmandu’s buzzing hub of shops, cafes, and nightlife. Soak in the atmosphere before returning to your hotel for a restful night’s sleep, ready to begin your adventure.

Despite recent earthquakes damaging many architectural gems, Kathmandu Valley’s cultural heritage sites remain enriching. Enjoy a daily tour of 5 UNESCO World Heritage sites: Swayambhunath, also referred to as the “monkey temple”; the historical Durbar Square in Kathmandu, featuring ancient temples and also the chance to work out the living goddess, Kumari; Patan’s Durbar Square; the Hindu temple Pashupatinath; and Bouddhanath, the biggest stupa within the world. A car and driver will escort you to every location, waiting while you explore (note: entry tickets and lunch aren’t included).

Having breakfast in Kathmandu, you’ll begin an early morning journey toward Tal, located at 1,705 meters (5,595 feet). The drive takes about 9 to 10 hours, winding through scenic landscapes that gradually change from the bustling cityscape to peaceful rural villages, terraced fields, and lush forests. Along the way, you’ll pass through small towns where you can stop for refreshments or enjoy local snacks while taking in the stunning views of the Himalayan foothills.

The road trip to Tal is an adventure in itself, offering a chance to experience Nepal’s diverse geography and culture before the trekking begins. As you approach Tal, the air becomes fresher and the surroundings more mountainous, setting the perfect tone for the trekking days ahead. This long drive allows you to relax, acclimatize gradually, and prepare mentally for the exciting journey into the mountains.

Having breakfast in the morning, you’ll start your trek from Tal and begin the journey toward Suti Khola. The trail gradually climbs through beautiful forests and traditional villages, giving you a chance to experience the local culture and stunning natural scenery. Along the way, you’ll pass terraced fields and small streams, feeling the peaceful atmosphere of the Himalayan foothills as you make your way higher.

The trek to Suti Khola covers about 6 to 7 hours, with the trail leading you through mixed terrain including gentle slopes and some steeper sections. As you approach Suti Khola at 2,705 meters (8,875 feet), you’ll be rewarded with scenic river views and a tranquil environment perfect for resting. This stretch offers a good balance of challenge and enjoyment, preparing you well for the next stages of your adventure.

Having breakfast in Surke Khola, trekkers begin their journey toward Bimthang, a scenic trek that takes about 5 to 6 hours. The trail gradually ascends through beautiful rhododendron forests and terraced fields, offering stunning views of the surrounding hills and distant snow-capped peaks. Along the way, you’ll pass small villages where local Gurung and Tibetan cultures blend, giving a glimpse of traditional mountain life. The path is well-marked but requires steady pacing to comfortably reach Bimthang.

As you approach Bimthang at 3,725 meters (11,795 feet), the landscape opens up into a wide alpine valley framed by towering peaks like Manaslu and Cheo Himal. Bimthang is an ideal place to rest and acclimatize, with cozy teahouses that provide warmth and local hospitality. The peaceful environment and breathtaking mountain views make it a perfect spot to relax after the day’s trek and prepare for the next stage of your adventure.

After breakfast in Bimthang, you’ll set out for an exciting day exploring the nearby alpine treasures of Ponkar Lake and Nayamlo Tal. The trek to Ponkar Lake is a moderate hike that takes you through beautiful rhododendron forests and open meadows, offering stunning panoramic views of towering peaks like Mt. Manaslu and Himlung Himal. Ponkar Lake’s clear turquoise waters mirror the surrounding mountains, making it a perfect spot for photos and a peaceful break. From there, you continue to Nayamlo Tal, another serene glacial lake known for its crystal-clear water and tranquil atmosphere.

After soaking in the breathtaking scenery at Nayamlo Tal, you will retrace your steps back to Bimthang, enjoying the quiet mountain trails and spotting local wildlife along the way. This exploration gives you a deeper connection with the natural beauty of the region, away from the busier trekking paths. Returning to Bimthang by afternoon or early evening, you can relax and share your experiences while preparing for the next stage of your journey.

After breakfast in Bimthang, you’ll begin your trek towards Goa. The trail gradually descends through lush forests and charming villages, offering beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and terraced fields. Along the way, you’ll pass local farms and interact with friendly villagers, experiencing the rich culture of the region. The path is well-marked and peaceful, making for an enjoyable and scenic trek.

As you approach Goa, the landscape changes with rocky terrain and pine forests framing the route. Reaching Goa at 2,560 meters (8,250 feet), you’ll find a small, welcoming village where you can rest and refresh after your 5 to 6-hour trek. The peaceful environment and stunning mountain backdrop make Goa a perfect place to relax and prepare for the next stage of your journey.

Starting your day in Goa, you begin with a hearty breakfast to fuel up for the trek ahead. The trail from Goa to Chamje (1,415m/4,645ft) takes about 5 to 6 hours and offers a wonderful introduction to the lush landscapes of the region. As you walk, you’ll pass through terraced fields, traditional villages, and dense forests, all surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks. The path gradually descends along the Budhi Gandaki River, giving trekkers a peaceful and scenic journey filled with natural beauty and local culture.

Along the way, you’ll notice the vibrant flora and fauna that thrive in this mid-hill area, making the trek both refreshing and engaging. The arrival at Chamje marks a lovely spot to rest for the night, with cozy teahouses and friendly locals welcoming you. Chamje is a quiet village that provides a perfect chance to experience authentic rural life and prepare for the next day’s adventure deeper into the mountains.

After enjoying a hearty breakfast in Chamje, your journey begins with a scenic drive to Besi Sahar, situated at 765 meters (2,515 feet). The route winds through beautiful valleys, rivers, and small villages, offering glimpses of rural Nepalese life and stunning natural landscapes. Along the way, you may see terraced fields, traditional homes, and lush greenery that make this drive a peaceful and refreshing experience.

From Besi Sahar, the journey continues onward to Kathmandu, which sits at an elevation of 1,350 meters (4,395 feet). The drive takes about 8 to 9 hours in total, passing through diverse terrain—from lowland hills to bustling towns. As you approach Kathmandu, the scenery shifts to a mix of urban sights and historic landmarks, signaling your return to Nepal’s vibrant capital city, full of culture and life.

Useful Info

Best Season for Bimthang Trekking

The best times to trek the Bimthang Trekking  are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During spring, the trail offers clear mountain views, pleasant temperatures, and blooming rhododendrons in multiple colors. Autumn brings stable weather, clear skies, and exceptional views of Mt. Manaslu and surrounding peaks.
Trekking in winter and monsoon seasons is not advised due to heavy snowfall, closed lodges at higher altitudes, and high landslide risks during the rains.

Food on the Trek

Although food choices are limited compared to city areas, trekkers can expect healthy, hygienic meals throughout the journey. A typical trek includes 9 breakfasts, 7 lunches, and 8 dinners.
Breakfast options include Tibetan bread, eggs, cereals, pancakes, toast, fruits, and hot drinks.
Lunch and dinner commonly feature dal bhat, vegetable curries, noodles, thukpa, pasta, soups, and snacks. It’s best to eat fresh vegetables, drink plenty of water, and avoid mixing dairy, meat, alcohol, and coffee.

Accommodation

In Kathmandu, you’ll find a wide range of hotels, but along the trek, accommodation is mostly at basic tea houses. Rooms are twin-sharing, often with shared toilets outside the room. Tea houses have a communal dining area with a fireplace. In higher altitudes, it’s essential to carry a warm sleeping bag.

Trek Difficulty

Bimthang trekking route offers a moderate level of difficulty, making it suitable for trekkers who have some prior experience but are not necessarily expert mountaineers. The trail involves steady uphill climbs and occasional steep sections, especially as you approach higher altitudes. While the terrain can be rugged in places, the path is generally well-marked and manageable, with gradual acclimatization opportunities along the way. Trekkers should be prepared for long walking days of 5 to 7 hours, but the pace can be adjusted according to individual fitness levels.

Altitude is one of the main challenges on the Bimthang trek, as the route reaches elevations around 3,700 meters (12,140 feet). Proper acclimatization is important to avoid altitude sickness, and the trek includes rest stops to help your body adjust. The weather can vary from warm valleys to cold mountain passes, so carrying appropriate gear for changing conditions is essential. Overall, the Bimthang trek is rewarding for those ready for a moderate challenge, offering stunning landscapes, rich cultural encounters, and a sense of adventure without extreme technical demands.
